V.ALRT (VSN400) Personal Emergency Response Device review

The V.ALRT (VSN400) Personal Emergency Response Device is a bluetooth enabled device that activates to send emergency texts with your location and a help message. It came well packaged with the device, a pendant hook (no necklace included as indicated) and the wrist band. The device is attached to the package via a sticky tab so do not be afraid to give it a tug to dislodge it. Also included is a simple quick start guide.
NOTE: Please make sure you have a supported phone with the ability to send text messages as a service. Otherwise the majority of the feature of having this is wasted. Check the requirements above to make sure they are current for the phone you have. While an iPad will load the application, the alert capabilities will not work for sending the texts.
During setup you simply sync the device and give a default text message that will go out. What I did not like was two things during setup. #1) the help files are not available to you until you complete the entire setup process. Sure I can go online and hunt for them, but while in the app I would like help for each screen or the link to the hep files that is shown in the video on the after setup screens. A waste to have a FAQ and help videos you cannot see until it is set up. Secondly you must have a phone number in the contact to be able to add someone. An email address is not enough (even if that email is a text address). You also cannot add someone or a number directly to the app itself There may be someone I want listed I do not want in my phone contacts.
Testing the feature to find the device proved pointless since it is so quiet. I could fin nowhere to increase the volume. If it is in a backpack or pocket you will not hear it.
The alert if fallen capability worked great but we turned it off for fear of sending texts if I dropped it on forget to cancel the alert. A great thing for older people though if their phone is in range at all times.
We should not note that the V.ALRT (VSN400) Personal Emergency Response Device this is attached to must be in range, the app running and bluetooth connected for this to work. If any of those are not met then it is serves no purpose.
We did like the silent alert feature that was possible. However I know some people are looking for ways to run without your phone. With this, the phone can be in a pocket or pouch and you have this for quick emergency. It works well and serves it purpose for that.
We do wish that they did more with the V.ALRT (VSN400) Personal Emergency Response Device to make it worth getting. It does exactly what they described, but there is so much screen space and capabilities via bluetooth they could have made this a health tracker, watch face, locator device and countless other things to replace many of the other things on the market into one. Son we will all be wearing six bluetooth type devices to do everything.
The watch band is very think and weighs more than some others as shown in the video. If you have thicker wrists check and see if they have larger sizes. There was no diameter officially listed but the video shows the band in use.
You can get the V.ALRT (VSN400) Personal Emergency Response Device on Amazon. As a favor, even if you are not buying,, click Yes while there to at least let them know the review is helpful.
